SMI Inc. is a comprehensive government relations and solutions firm with a focus on national security, energy, the life sciences and research and development. SMI is seeking a Junior Associate with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial nature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

This position will provide assistance to senior level government relations professionals as they execute strategies to secure new business, advance the interests of current clients, and maintain and build strong relationships within the Federal Government and the U.S. Congress. This position will provide support by working closely with senior staff on scheduling and logistics, industry, legislative and policy research, business development and industry research, writing and drafting presentations and proposals, and interacting with clients and government contacts. This position will also play a key role in the firm’s communication strategy, which includes a newsletter, a website, and social media.

This position will also assist with quarterly lobbying disclosure reporting requirements. This entry level position will provide opportunities for growth as well as strong work experiences for other government and political positions.

Candidates with experience and interest in communications and social media are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university. Previous work experience in Congressional offices, lobbying and trade associations is desirable but not required. Candidates should possess strong writing, research and communication skills. Experience required with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
