Ladies Professional Golf Association - Communications Coordinator

This position requires someone with language and cultural skills.  Mr. David Higdon, LPGA Chief Communications Officer, is seeking a Communications Coordinator who can handle a variety of functions within the LPGA’s Communications Department, including corporate communications, media relations, digital media, player promotion, broadcast PR, etc.  The ideal candidate will be able to speak Korean and English fluently.  Please see the attached job description for additional details.

Position Summary:

The Communications Coordinator provides communications services for all areas of department including Corporate Communciations, Media Relations, PR & Player Promotion, Digital Media & Player Promotion, and Television. He/she must manage administrative duties for the Chief Communications Officer and provide value to our staff, player membership and tournaments in all facets of communications. Position is based at LPGA headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Key Relationships:

Direct report to Chief Communications Officer. Position services all areas of the department—and, by extension, the association—which will rely on her/him to handle important and sensitive  Communications material. Besides the CCO, direction will come from the department’s Directors. Must maintain strong relationships with media, tournaments and all members of the association including LPGA Tour and FUTURES Tour players as well as LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Services communications-related inquiries and correspondence from both internal and external (media) sources;
  • Maintains documentation of department’s work and assists in merchandising information to membership and other LPGA stakeholders;
  • Maintains measurement system for department;
  • Assists in Corporate Communications initiatives including stakeholder communications, Commissioner activities, player meetings, etc.
  • Manage administrative, research and database duties for the Chief Communications Officer;
  • Updates and distributes materials for regular distribution to the media, tournaments and LPGA staff including performance charts, tournament summaries, stats page, tee cards, scoring highlights, etc.;
  • Assists with updating and maintaining various LPGA communications department database lists, including media guide distribution and news release recipients;
  • Participates in special events, projects and assignments as requested.

Requirements & Competencies for Success:

  • College degree, preferably in a Communications-related field, with excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Fluent in English and preferably at least one other language, ideally one spoken by a large number of LPGA players and tournaments;
  • Service- and people-oriented, with the ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate department needs;
  • Ability to travel when requested, including weekends;
  • Multi-faceted in the Communications field, with experience, skills and interest in several disciplines (Media Relations, Digital Media, TV, PR)
  • Work experience in sports and interest in golf.
