This position will work with the Director of Marketing to market the facilities and events while creating and maintaining relationships with media and promotional partners. The marketing coordinator will assist in advertising, media buying, interactive media, ticketing analysis, promotions, public relations and grassroots efforts for events as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing plans and strategies for events, including creation of advertising materials, media buying, promotions, grassroots, interactive efforts and public relations for events
  • Negotiate, close, and implement media and promotional agreements for Tucker Center events with promoters and media clients
  • Manage event day activities including but not limited to: pre-event or on-site promotions, meet and greets and media
  • Prepare written letter of agreements including negotiating terms
  • Assist the Director of Marketing to develop, maintain and coordinate event and facility advertising programs, collateral material and opportunities
  • Update and maintain facility’s image when working with customers; this includes but is not limited to: facility website; databases and all social media, additionally serve as liaison for all website related promotions and initiatives
  • Assist Director of Marketing in preparation of monthly corporate marketing reports and participate in monthly conference calls with other Spectra entities
  • Prepare various reports on public relations progress, marketing efforts/results, ticketing analysis, demographics and economic trends, including event recaps
  • Create collateral materials such as print ads, online ads, promotional pieces, posters, schedules, calendars and various ticket brochures from concept to completion
  • Maintain and create detailed media budgets, settlement reconciliations, and recap summaries for facility events
  • Manage day to day digital marketing program, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Website, Venue App, Facility Email Program, SEO, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts between promoters, artist management and local media
  • Pitch stories, write press releases, create public relations events, generate media hits, implement media drops and build relationships with local media and outlying markets
  • Manage all grassroots efforts including poster & flier distribution, community appearances and overall expansion of marketing campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure
  • Generate new and creative ideas to attract new events/self-created events and to promote events when booked, including social media and food & beverage promotions
  • Update website, marquee and in-arena address systems (including flyers, posters, TV creative)
  • Manage database and email campaigns
  • Develop new marketing programs and initiatives to maximize ticket sales, such as third party partnerships, new media avenues
  • Participate in the development and implementation of annual marketing goals, objectives, policies and priorities
  • Recruit and assist managing student interns and/or part-time marketing staff and their assignments
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Hospitality/Sports Management, Business or a related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in sales and/or marketing, preferably with a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility or other multi-purpose public assembly facility
  • Must be a committed, organized user of social media tools, with an understanding of how to drive programs through digital media and website maintenance, manage database marketing to reach new customers and drive increased revenue
  • Accountable and detail-oriented; must be able to juggle many tasks within time constraints
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible – must be available to work evenings, weekends and all event days as assigned
  • Microsoft office applications and word processing skills required, as well as database management and graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Team player who is a creative and proactive problem solver
  • Ability to travel as required

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame.  This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

 

Physical demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

 

Work environment:

The essential functions of this position are normally performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud during events, depending on the employee’s physical location in the facility, and minimal during non-event times.
