Instructional Librarian for Distance and Online Learning @ The Camden Carroll Library at Morehead State University

The Camden Carroll Library at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Instructional Librarian for Distance and Online Learning at the rank of Librarian I or II. The anticipated start date is April 16, 2021.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide-range of outdoor recreation activities. RESPONSIBILITIES: To serve as a member of the Research & Instructional Services department; provide research assistance; perform library instruction; serve as a liaison to regional campuses, local public libraries, and community college libraries in the area; travel throughout Morehead State University’s service region; provide leadership in the design, development, marketing, delivery, and assessment of library services for distance and online learning; provide leadership for the library’s role in dual-credit programs for high school students; and provide leadership in the revision and delivery of the library’s two credit-earning courses. Additional responsibilities include: supervise one full-time staff; learn systems related to document delivery, work regularly scheduled hours at the Research Services desk or its online equivalent; perform some outreach duties for the library; and serve as library liaison to at least one academic department.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from a program accredited by the ALA; experience working in a library; experience providing instruction; extensive knowledge of information sources, information literacy practices, and instructional theory; strong technology skills; demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and creatively in a rapidly changing environment; extensive knowledge of commonly used software applications; ability to form and maintain good working relationships with students and faculty; excellent written and oral communication skills, and a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Supervisory experience; evidence of scholarly activity within the field of information literacy; experience with Springshare modules; experience with WebEx or similar platforms; experience and aptitude in creating online or video tutorials; instructional experience using course-management software (e.g., Blackboard); and an additional Master’s degree in a related field.
