Librarian @ Broadmoor Resource Center Library

If you enjoy supervising creative and innovative staff, being a team player, and assisting library patrons in a fast-paced library environment, our Broadmoor Resource Center Library needs you!  Shreve Memorial Library seeks an experienced Librarian to serve as Branch Manager of the Broadmoor Resource Center.   The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the branch, working with a team of 31, and most importantly ensuring that the community’s informational and recreational needs are met.   Under the direction of an Area Manager and the Associate Director of Public Services, this is very responsible library work, which involves the application of professional library techniques and procedures to the operation of a resource center within the library system.
The library system completed a five year strategic plan last year and is moving forward with exciting new ventures.  New programming, outreach and community partnership opportunities abound including online story times, coding and robotics classes, participation in the local Mardi Gras parades, and partnering with the local Food Bank to offer after school and summer feeding programs for children.  The first Annual Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival and the 7th Annual SML Author Fair were held this month.  All students in Caddo Parish schools were issued virtual library cards to ensure access for all students.  Our high school student summer internship program is undergoing some dynamic changes.
Within the library system, the Broadmoor Resource Center is the system’s leader in both circulation and programming! This location is also home to the area’s only collection of Genealogy resources which draws visitors from the surrounding states.
Shreve Memorial Library serves approximately 255,000 diverse citizens of Caddo Parish with a dedicated staff, and a $16.8 million annual operating budget.  The system includes 21 branch locations, a Mobile Library, and an eBranch.
The city of Shreveport and the parish of Caddo also have many venues with which to experience history, music, art, theater, and more.  Shreveport is home to college football’s Independence Bowl, the Rose Garden, the Red River Revel, The Louisiana Film Prize Festival,  one of the nation’s largest farmers’ markets, six Mardi Gras parades and much more.
