Open Education Librarian @ Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Join Hunt Library’s dynamic team as the next Open Education Librarian, located on the Daytona Beach Campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU).  This non-tenure track position is part of the Scholarly Communication department and responsible for the growth and support of open educational initiatives on ERAU’s residential campus in Daytona Beach, Florida, as well the distance learning and online programs.

Duties include:

  • Guiding faculty in identifying, adopting, and assessing affordable textbook alternatives.
  • Collaborating with librarians, instructional designers, faculty, and students to promote affordable textbook alternatives.
  • Providing faculty outreach and training.
  • Facilitating or working with colleagues on a wide variety of existing library-led affordable textbook and OER projects.
  • Tracking, documenting, and assessing open and affordable course content use on campus.
  • Calculating student savings, and communicating benefits and impact to the university community.
  • Leading the cross-campus OER Initiatives Team.

Required qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science
  • Minimum of two years of academic library experience
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in textbook affordability, open educational resources, and scholarly communication
  • Demonstrated experience in providing training or instruction
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment and interact and collaborate with individuals of different backgrounds
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with institutional repository systems
  • Knowledge of copyright law and how it applies to academic libraries and classroom environments
  • Familiarity with Creative Commons and other open licenses
  • Experience with Canvas
  • Experience with Pressbooks/PressbooksEDU
  • Experience with Ex Libris Leganto
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating or supervising library professionals
