Reference and Instruction Librarian, Science, St. Mary’s College of Maryland

St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City invites applications a permanent-status track faculty position as Reference and Instruction Librarian at the Assistant Librarian level beginning January 2013.

This position includes responsibility for: providing reference services (including some evenings and weekends); providing library instruction and collection development for the departments of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science; providing library instruction in the core curriculum; creating online research guides for subjects and courses in the departments named above; and assisting in the coordination of e-resources.

The successful candidate must: hold an ALA-accredited MLS; be committed to undergraduate library services; and be familiar with information literacy outcomes and assessment. Minimum starting salary is $49,000.

Librarians at SMCM serve as academic advisors and participate on state-wide consortial groups and college faculty committees. They have faculty status and rank with a 12-month appointment including 22 vacation days and an excellent benefits package.
