We are seeking a talented, enterprising reporter who is passionate about audio storytelling and making a difference in the community. The successful candidate will join a growing newsroom at a station that is exploring new ways to tell compelling stories on multiple platforms. You must have the drive to break stories and the skills and creativity to tell those stories in a memorable way. We’re looking for a self-starter who is comfortable with digital and social media and has impeccable news judgment.

It’s an exciting time to join WJCT. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcasting, or related field &/or equivalent work experience.
  • One (1) year experience as a journalist/reporter, Public broadcasting preferred.
  • Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure.
  • Experience in audio editing and filed recording techniques required. Basic video and photography skills preferred.
  • The ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Expertise and enthusiasm in social media with a desire to use various platforms to source stories and promote coverage.
  • Must be able to work a non-conventional work schedule, to possibly include nights and weekends.
