The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, MI has an immediate opening for a Technical Information Search Analyst in a collegial and creative environment where you will have the opportunity to grow professionally. This position is in the Information Research (IR) group.  This group provides leading edge information technology (I/T) capability and information resources to meet strategic R&D initiatives. IR team members bring a combination of Information Technology, R&D experience and physical science knowledge to develop capabilities and analysis that help deliver R&D growth commitments.

We seek a highly motivated and creative information professional who has demonstrated an ability to provide a broad range of information services with an emphasis on in-depth patent information research and analysis. We need someone who can work independently and function as part of a globally leveraged team.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Research, retrieve, analyze, and present information particularly in scientific and patent information areas.  Provide in-depth, comprehensive searches for technical background, patent landscape, patentability, right to practice, and competitive intelligence purposes.
  • Provide current awareness/alerting services to keep R&D clients up to date with new technical and patent information
  • Support effective use of technical information resources at the Dow Chemical Company by providing search consultation to clients and by delivering outreach and training on those resources
  • Provide subject matter expertise on one or more services/tools offered by the group; monitor the external environment for new offerings in those areas and evaluate those of potential interest
  • Serve as a member various cross-functional teams within Information Research and with clients in the R&D community

The successful candidate will support effective use of information at the Dow Chemical Company by providing search consultation and promoting effective use of the Company’s technical information resources.
Qualifications

A minimum of a Masters degree in a science or technology field, preferably Chemistry, is required for this position. A PhD is preferred. A Masters degree in Library Science, in addition to the technical degree, would be a plus. New graduates will also be considered. An excellent understanding of Chemistry is required
