Visiting Teaching Faculty @ FSU School of Communication

The School of Communication at Florida State University seeks a 1-year Visiting Specialized Faculty Member to teach in the Digital Media Production area starting August 2023. We seek filmmakers to teach courses in foundations of video production and specialized courses in multiple of the following areas: editing, cinematography, documentary history & theory, and writing for media. The successful candidate will have experience in documentary and non-fiction production. The position includes teaching a 4/4 course load over the fall and spring semesters.Preferred:

  • Experience making documentary or other non-fiction video is required, as well as experience in at least two of the following areas: post- production, cinematography, documentary history & theory, and writing for non-fiction.
  • Experience teaching media production at the collegiate level.
  • Teaching or work in areas related to public interest, social justice, environmental campaigns and/or historical memory.

Qualifications:

  • Academic doctorate or highest level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching.
