Office of the Democratic Caucus Internship Program

The Florida House of Representatives Democratic Office seeks legislative interns for the 2019 Legislative Session (March – May 2019) and a few of the Committee Weeks (Jan – February 2019). Working in our office will help you to gain comprehensive understanding of and experience with the legislative process.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Research, break down, and track proposed legislation being considered during session and become familiar with the committee bills and interim studies on major legislative proposals.
  • Research will be utilized by Members to stay informed on the finer points of legislation, more specifically: to write op-eds for Members to submit to their local papers, position papers and talking points to help prepare Members for debate, help draft sample social media posts for members and the House caucus, and to develop non-traditional ways to communicate with their districts.
  • Work with the Staff Director, the Communications Director, and the Deputy Communications Director daily on projects for Members and the caucus.
  • You will have the opportunity to interact with Members and staff daily. Whether you are looking for your first experience in the politics, or seeking further experience in the legislative process, a strong work ethic and willingness to get the job done can take you places.
