Gain applied programming experience to enhance your resume or graduate school application at the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS). COAPS has an immediate opening for a part-time undergraduate student to conduct scientific and/or web service programming to support ongoing atmospheric and oceanic research. The successful candidate will be working within the COAPS Marine Data Center. Duties may include (1) directed scientific programming to process remotely-sensed and in situ observational data sets, (2) data analysis and graphics development to support team research results, (3) updating content on HTML, SHTML, and PHP pages, (4) maintaining content in backend databases (primarily MySQL), and (5) developing database-coupled web applications to display/serve a wide range of atmospheric and oceanic data products from COAPS.
The position will be filled for spring semester 2018 (10-15 hrs/wk), with possible employment extension into summer semester 2018 based upon performance. The position is part-time OPS with wages commensurate with experience and typically on the high end for student
employment. The applicant must be able to work a regular schedule between 8 am and 6 pm (M-F) at our facility in Innovation Park. City and FSU bus services to/from campus are available.
