Chief Information Officer @ University of Idaho

The University of Idaho Chief Information Officer serves as the institution’s senior IT leader and provides vision, leadership and direction for developing and implementing information technology initiatives in accordance with the mission, core values, goals and strategic plan of the university and designed to enhance the performance and growth of the University of Idaho.

This is accomplished by:

  • determining, through collaboration, experience and study, and articulating a vision of the technology assets needed to accomplish UI’s strategic plan goals;
  • developing and maintaining positive relationships across UI and working collaboratively with key university leaders and technology professionals to provide innovative IT solutions that address the complex needs of customers;
  • promoting the value and importance of current and emerging technologies while making informed decisions through discussions of cost, risk and outcomes;
  • developing strategy, budget and governance for integrating traditional, new, and emerging information resources and technology into the teaching, research, and extension missions of the University,
  • assuring responsive, reliable, and secure institutional IT processes and support services;
  • leading and managing the professionals in Information Technology Services (ITS) in accomplishing their scope of services including enterprise applications, system integration, database support, application management, multi-tiered end user support, classroom technologies, media center, records management, ID card operations, electronic commerce, student computer labs, software support, information security, portfolio and project management, telecommunications, networks, servers and storage;
  • stewarding a positive culture in ITS built around partnership, transparency, collaboration and continuous improvement;
  • ensuring UI constituents understand what ITS can do to help them achieve their goals;
  • providing leadership in setting policy for technology and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws and UI policy;
  • providing active, integrative leadership for the university’s statewide information technologies and information resources through collaboration with IT leaders throughout Idaho in educational technologies and related information services, telecommunications and connective networks, computing, including collaborative planning, and policy development;
  • working closely with regional and national IT organizations for the purpose of developing, delivering, and enhancing UI programs efficiently and in improving and implementing technology-enabled strategic solutions.
