What are you looking forward to at FSU? The people and the opportunity to mentor, coach, guide, teach, and lead an amazing group of students.
If you could choose any other career, what would it be? I’d invest in a fleet of Sprinters and become a delivery partner with Amazon.

Employment prior to FSU: Yikes. My last position, however, was as an Assistant Professor at The University of Iowa.
Areas of research: I study how disadvantaged women interact with and obtain health information, how this acquisition is affected by their literacies (reading and information) and how to break down the barriers in this process. I also look at large datasets to study international trends in health outcomes as they relate to metrics of library usage and scholarship.
Areas of teaching: I have taught a wide range of classes from the more technical, such as information organization, health informatics, and introduction to computer science for undergrads, and less so, including classes on scaling library education to literacy levels and an overview of social issues in the field of librarianship. I particularly enjoy teaching courses that provide my students ample opportunity to explore information science from diverse user perspectives- regardless of the content.
Classes teaching this Fall: I am teaching LIS5703: Information Organization
