Last semester, three College of Communication & Information students received the FSU Student Foundation’s (FSU SF) 21 Under 21 Award! The award recognizes students who have displayed outstanding leadership and dedication to philanthropy early in their collegiate careers. Recipients included School of Information students Bella Bozied and Catherine Marshall and School of Communication student Rain Bellamy.
Bella Bozied is a senior majoring in Information, Communication, & Technology and Editing, Writing, & Media. She currently serves as President of Her Campus Elite FSU and was recognized for her excellent work as Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Director of Philanthropy. During her term, the sorority raised a chapter record-breaking $30,000. She shared, “It was amazing to know that people thought I had an effect on something larger than life: philanthropy! I was grateful enough to serve as Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Philanthropy Director during the 2023 year. It was an incredible experience to work in uplifting The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) through fundraising with our events and educating people on what NAMI was and how it could help them!”
Catherine Marshall, a senior studying Information Technology, was recognized for her work with Relay for Life. She previously served as the organization’s Director of Finance securing over 11 sponsorships for the American Cancer Society, and now serves as the Executive Director. Catherine shared that she was thrilled to receive this award, and expressed her gratitude for the FSU SF saying, “The Student Foundation is transforming the Florida State University community as we know it. Urielle Laurent and Emily Schwartz [Chair and Vice Chair of the Boa rd of Trustees] are extremely dedicated, passionate, and wonderful people with incredible ideas. Their contributions to making FSU a better place should not go unnoticed. From starting the Student Foundation’s Philanthropy Banquet to opening Student Foundation Grant Requests and helping RSO’s further their missions – Emily and Urielle are amazing individuals and I am so thankful to have been recognized by them.”
Media/Communication Studies and Sport Management junior Rain Bellamy was recognized for her work as the President of the service-based Kappa Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She explained, “Since coming to Florida State, I have been invested in improving upon and enriching our campus community and the Tallahassee community at large. When I was notified that I would be recognized by the 21 Under 21 Awards, it was the culmination of my passions and hard work to make our world a bit better and motivated me to do even more…There are so many opportunities for each of us to be of service to others. It is up to us to discover what we are passionate about and find/create opportunities to work in that space.”
Please join us in celebrating our amazing students Bella, Catherine, and Rain. Congratulations on the great work!
