Position Description:
The College of Communication & Information (CCI) is seeking a versatile paid intern for the Spring 2026 (and summer if available) semester to support and advance the college’s websites (and related content). This role is ideal for someone with basic WordPress knowledge, foundational coding skills, and an interest in learning how websites are structured, maintained, and optimized in a professional setting. FSU CCI offers an immersive experience designed to give students real-world experience, valuable skills and a core portfolio. Interns can expect to develop and test web-related applications such as: -web pages -content management systems (WordPress) -plugins -new and existing website content -and any other aspects that affect the visitor and/or user experience The intern will also use reporting tools such as Google Analytics to analyze website statistics and user’s behavior.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update WordPress websites
- Upload, edit, and format pages, posts, images, and other media
- Support website redesigns, layout enhancements, and content updates
- Assist with ADA and web accessibility improvements
- Configure and update WordPress themes and plugins
- Perform routine website maintenance (updates, backups, monitoring)
- Troubleshoot minor frontend or WordPress issues
- Work with basic HTML/CSS and light PHP or JavaScript as needed
- Identify and report usability, performance, or accessibility issues
- Document updates and follow established workflows
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Working knowledge of WordPress (admin dashboard, themes, plugins)
- Basic HTML and CSS understanding
- General knowledge of website fundamentals (domains, hosting, databases)
- Attention to detail, especially for accessibility and content accuracy
- Ability to follow technical instructions and documentation
Preferred Skills
- Experience with WordPress page builders (Gutenberg, Elementor, etc.)
- Introductory PHP or JavaScript knowledge
- Familiarity with ADA/WCAG accessibility standards
- Basic awareness of cloud hosting or AWS concepts
- Exposure to Git or version control
- Understanding of staging vs. production environments
