Jennifer Whelihan (’02, M.A. Interactive and New Communication Technology, ’01, B.A. Media Communication Studies) was recently named the recipient of the Rotarian of the Year award by the Rotary Club of Westshore Tampa for her participation in helping the club revamp its communication efforts.
“I’m so excited to receive the 2020 Rotarian of the Year Award, especially during a time when we need to celebrate the goodness of community and opportunity for service,” she said.
The FSU School of Communication alumna started attending meetings a couple of years ago and was immediately impressed by the club’s innovative ways of showing commitment to its community.
“…I was able to assist them with a modern communication strategy to include online presence with a website and Monthly Cogs which keeps the membership and visitors updated on news and happenings of the organization and its respective members,” she explains.
Whelihan also explained how the Rotary’s vision of working together to influence communities and create lasting changes truly inspires her in her everyday life.
“They embraced my ideas and together we developed exciting new programming that exposed the organization to additional community partners, as well as ways to continue to serve our greater community by participating, donating, and supporting causes,” she said.
Congratulations, Jennifer!
