Communication Alumna Recognized at 2021 Inspire Awards

Marion Hargett (’93, B.S. General Communication), the Senior Vice President of Agency Partnerships and National Sales at Ampersand, was one of four alumni honored on March 11th with an Inspire Award by Florida State University Alumni Association.

The Inspire Award honors women of distinction who have proven to be leaders in their industry and whose determination has served as an inspiration to others.

“I am humbled and honored to have been chosen to receive this award,” said Hargett. “I appreciate the recognition from the University and Alumni Association.”

Hargett has fond memories of her time at FSU and gives back to the community whenever she can. “I loved the college experience and everything it had to offer,” said Hargett. “Over the course of my college career, I learned how important partnerships, group collaboration and public speaking are to my success.”

Hargett brings these skills to her current position as the Senior Vice President of Agency Partnerships and National Sales, where she is helping innovate the TV industry by developing new technology and ways for brands to reach their target audiences.  Ampersand is a leader in advanced TV and Marion enjoys working on the cutting edge of the media industry.

The 1993 graduate has been an Alumni Association member, Seminole Boosters member, served on the Alumni Association National Board of Directors, A Trustee of the FSU Foundation and President of her Local Seminole club. In addition to volunteering her service, she has worked to support students by establishing two scholarships one with the Seminole Boosters- FSU women’s soccer to honor her parents and She also created the Excellence in Public Speaking Education Endowment in honor of her favorite professor at FSU, Mark Zeigler “The reason I wanted to work with others to create an endowment to honor Mark was to showcase how one professor can change your life,” said Hargett. “Mark really is a treasure at FSU, and we felt this recognition would be a great way to honor his commitment to students while highlighting and supporting his work.”
