Following Personal Passions: Lyndsi Edgar Seminole 100 Spotlight

Lyndsi Edgar, a School of Communication (SCOM) alumna, was chosen as a Seminole 100 honoree. Seminole 100 is a prestigious recognition of the fastest-growing businesses owned or led by Florida State University (FSU) alumni.

“I’d like to sincerely thank Seminole 100 for this incredible honor. I’m truly looking forward to meeting and celebrating with my fellow honorees in February,” said Edgar.

Edgar graduated from SCOM with a B.A. in Public Relations in 2010, and then her M.A. in Integrated Marketing Communication in 2011. Fifteen years after graduating, Edgar reflected on her path that led her to be a successful business owner.

“Back in college, I never imagined I’d own my own business — I thought I’d follow a traditional path up the corporate ladder. But I took a leap of faith, built something from the ground up, and to now be recognized for that journey by the very place that helped shape me? That’s incredibly special — for me and for the eLuminate team who helped make it happen,” Edgar said.

Edgar is the Chief Operating Officer of her company, eLuminate Marketing, which she started eleven years ago. She credits FSU for sparking her passion for marketing and giving her opportunities to gain valuable experiences and skills.

“FSU really solidified my passion for communication and marketing. I had an interest going in, but once I started taking classes, I knew I had found the right path. The coursework brought marketing to life in a practical, hands-on way. I still remember a project where we had to build a full campaign for Tallahassee tourism — from research to strategy development to final presentation. That experience taught me how to think critically, structure a marketing plan from the ground up, and communicate ideas with confidence — all skills I use every day as a business owner,” said Edgar.

eLuminate Marketing is a boutique marketing agency that has a focus on industries such as Legal, Commercial Real Estate, and Construction/Home Services, which helps differentiate Edgar’s company from other boutique marketing agencies. When asked what leadership styles and techniques have impacted her company, Edgar emphasized a focus on creating an inspiring and secure workplace.

“One of my favorite traditions is our “Winning” Slack channel, where we celebrate everything from small wins to major milestones. It’s a daily reminder that every contribution matters. Recognizing people and giving credit where it’s due isn’t just good leadership — it’s how you build a strong, motivated culture,” Edgar said.

Edgar ends her interview with advice for current students of FSU, emphasizing following personal passions and making the most of their time.

“My advice to students is simple: adopt a growth mindset. Your learning doesn’t stop at graduation — it evolves. Seek mentors, say yes to opportunities that stretch you, and keep reading, observing, and asking questions. The more you learn, the more value you bring to every room you enter,” Edgar said.

Congratulations to Lyndsi Edgar on being selected as a Seminole 100 honoree!
