Amy Johnson, alumna of the MLIS program, has been named the new state librarian and director of the Division of Library and Information Services.
“I am a proud graduate of Florida State University’s School of Information from December 1990,” she shared. “I have many fond memories of classes with Dr. Clack, Dr. Conaway, and Dean Summers to name only a few.”
Johnson has worked in the Division of Library and Information Services since 2000 and has served as the chief of the Bureau of Library Development for the past three years. The division is responsible for the state library, state archives, state record-keeping and library development services/grants programs for public libraries throughout the state.
Prior to her work with the state, Johnson was the Cataloging/ILL librarian at the Marshall W. Hamilton Library at North Florida Community College in Madison.
“My education at Florida State University positioned me well for future employment, both at North Florida Community College as well as within the Division of Library and Information Services,” said Johnson.
“I look forward to an expanded relationship with my alma mater to foster partnerships that strengthen information professionals. Libraries, archives, and information centers are hubs of innovation serving their communities’ unique needs.”
