CCI’s Information Institute to host Eppes lecture on IT careers and internships

The Information Institute at Florida State University (FSU)’s College of Communication & Information will present a Francis Eppes Lecture entitled “Introduction to the Midwest Center for Information Technology Careerlink and Related Services: Linking IT Employers, Faculty, Students, and Jobs” on Wednesday, March 26, from 11 a.m until 12 p.m.

Dr. Levi Thiele, Brad McPeak and Erin Lasiter of the Midwest Center for Information Technology (MCIT), who are visiting the FSU Information Institute as a part of an IT Careers Research Symposium, will deliver the one-hour Eppes lecture at the Louis Shores Building, room 206.  A light lunch reception will follow the presentation in the Goldstein Library, located in the FSU Shores Building.

MCIT LogoThe MCIT is a collaboration of 10 community colleges in the North Plains region located in Omaha, Neb., and operates with funding from the National Science Foundation.  The MCIT’s research aims to enhance IT education and workforce preparedness in order to better equip community college students with the IT skills necessary to meet and exceed the needs of regional employers.

The mission of Information Institute is to develop and implement applied research and policy studies that improve the quality, effectiveness, and productivity of individuals and organizations’ use and management of information resources and services.
