The Florida State University College of Communication & Information (FSU CCI) appoints three new Associate Deans from current faculty members effective July 2013.
John H. Phipps Professor of Communication and former School of Communication Director, Dr. Stephen McDowell, is now the College’s Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Student & Faculty Development. Communication Associate Professor, Dr. Ulla Sypher, began serving as the Interim Director for the School of Communication starting in July.
McDowell has seventeen years of experience working with the FSU School of Communication. He maintains a strong commitment to support CCI students and faculty in becoming successful. His new duties include being a consultant on all academic matters, such as course changes and degree requirements, as well as making sure polices at FSU are followed. McDowell will also be responsible for resolving any grievances students or faculty may have, and making students aware of award opportunities for which they could be qualified.
With almost seven years working with CCI and teaching as a School of Library & Information Studies Professor, Ebe Randeree, has been appointed to Associate Dean of Finance & Administration. He will oversee all of the financial planning and budgeting for the College and aid with development of funding for our programs. In addition, Randeree will use his expertise to keep leading our efforts as Director of Communication and Coordinator of Internships & Outreach. He will be in charge of community outreach initiatives, such as the technology summer camps for young students and the Girl Scouts’ STEM badge program. CCI and the larger communities will greatly benefit from his experience in connecting with the public.
Dr. Juliann Woods, Professor in the School of Communication Science & Disorders, is now the CCI Associate Dean of Research. In her 14 years at FSU, she has served as the Director of Clinical and Distance Education and also a term as the Director of SCSD. She currently directs the Communication and Early Childhood Research and Practice Center and is an Associate Director at the Autism Institute. Woods will use her extensive background in securing external funding to provide support for new strategic initiatives and collaborations and will serve as a liaison between the College and the Office of Research. She will provide leadership that promotes growth and innovation in research by faculty and students and enhance the College’s reputation for scholarly excellence.
