SLIS’ Dr. Nancy Everhart, in her role as president of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) of the American Library Association (ALA), was the focus of an article in American Libraries magazine on Dec. 20.
“Road Trip: AASL president takes national ‘Vision Tour’ of excellent school libraries” by Leonard Kniffel focuses on Everhart, who is now several months into traveling to outstanding school libraries throughout the U.S.
The Vision Tour is an implementation of the AASL’s “Learning 4 Life” initiative, which aims to identify exemplary models of school libraries and high-profile advocates for school libraries. School librarians have been planning events at each stop along Everhart’s state-to-state journey. Everhart has been funding her own travel. The Friends of the AASL have been accepting contributions to fund Vision Tour items, such as plaques been presented to the school libraries.
