School of Communication Science and Disorders Clinical Instructor Linda Sasser received the Clinician of the Year Award from the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (FLASHA).
“I am so honored to receive this award. It means so much to be recognized for my work with this special population of children. I love what I get to do everyday!” Sasser said.
This award is given each year to an individual who has shown outstanding professional behavior and recent personal achievement in speech-language pathology and audiology. Sasser had been considered based on her many contributions to the field, most notably her coordination of the annual FSU Summer Listen Camp, which caters to children grades K-5 who have hearing loss and use and listening and spoken language approach for communication.
“I was honored to nominate Linda for this award. She has provided 36 years of clinical service in speech-language pathology and provided outstanding clinical training at FSU since 2011,” said Carla Wood, Director of the School of Communication Science and Disorders. “Linda’s dedication and commitment to high-quality health services is exemplified by one parent of a child who is deaf, ‘Linda is the most amazing therapist and has really become an integral part of our team and really, our family. We have been in the FSU speech program for years and she has never stopped researching, trying new things, and diligently working with our daughter to help her communicate the best that she can.’”
Sasser and other FLASHA award recipients will be honored at the 2024 FLASHA Convention in Daytona Beach, Florida, on June 21, 2024.
