Communication's Opel publishes his first children's book

Andy Opel, an associate professor in the School of Communication, has just published his first children’s book, The Witches: A Winnnipesaukee Adventure.

A synopsis: When Jack gets his first boat, he is excited to explore Lake Winnipesaukee with his younger brother and sister. Timber Island is a magical place just across the bay, but to get there, they have to go past The Witches. Follow Jack, Franny, and J.J. as they set off in search of summertime adventures. The story has been described as a classic tale of kids “messing about in boats” that captures the timeless magic and mystery of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.

For generations, families have returned to this special place, sharing in the beauty of the “smile of the great spirit.” In The Witches, Jack, Franny, and J.J. learn about the power of the lake and the wisdom of their grandmother.

Andy Opel and his family have been coming to the lake for five generations. He is a writer, filmmaker and musician who teaches documentary video production and environmental communication. To see his other work, visit: www.andyopel.net
