Students, Faculty, Staff Recognized at Annual Scholarship and Awards Program

Florida State University College of Communication and Information celebrated its Fall 2018 distinguished award winners and scholarship recipients at a celebratory reception at the FSU Alumni Association on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

This year, the College awarded ninety-six scholarships to students and thirteen awards to faculty members. The evening was marked with warm rounds of applause as hard-working students were recognized with scholarships and congratulated  by members of faculty and staff.
Director of Development Mafé Brooks welcomed guests by recognizing the generosity of donors, and was followed by esteemed guest speakers Eloise Mills of the Bill and Eloise Mills Scholarship in Communication and School of Information student Castle U. Kim.
The Office of the Dean awarded Roger Batlle Lacort the Outstanding Staff award. The School of Communication awarded the Undergraduate Faculty Teaching Award to Michelle Laurents, the Graduate Faculty Teaching Award was received by Russell Clayton, and the Outstanding Staff Award went to Natashia Hinson-Turner. The School of Communication Science & Disorders awarded the Undergraduate Faculty Teaching Award to Kristen Guynes, Susan Brosnan-Maddox received the Graduate Faculty Teaching Award, and the Outstanding Staff Award went to Kristine “Tina” Hoover. In the School of Information, the Undergraduate Faculty Teaching Award went to Christy Chatmon, Melissa Gross received the Graduate Faculty Teaching Award and the Outstanding Staff Award went to J. Barnes-Mitchell.
