Agency Description:

The Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. (SWIX), is a non-profit clearinghouse and repository for businesses and government agencies looking for information regarding recycling and reuse of solid and hazardous waste.  Since its inception in 1981, the emphasis of the SWIX has been on encouraging and facilitating sound environmental and cost-effective alternatives to the land filling, incineration or treatment of solid waste through direct interaction with waste generators in both the public and private sectors.

Position: Intern, working between 15-20 hours a week.

Principal duties may include:

1)     Cataloging inventory on the company’s website.

2)     Converting database information into workable material for website use.

3)     Assisting with the coordination, implementation and evaluation of the social marketing campaign for SWIX.  The intern will also be required to keep social networks pertaining to SWIX current.

4)     Runner tasks on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

Education – Currently enrolled in a post secondary institution.

Knowledge – Proficient on a Mac and in Microsoft Office.

Skills – The ability to work independently and accept supervision.
