Scholars Commons, FSU Strozier Library

 

The Strozier Library Faculty and Graduate Student Services seek students in the MLIS program to volunteer, or pursue a for-credit unpaid internship with the Scholars Commons Department. The student will work with the Social Sciences Librarian for Political Science, Public Administration & Policy, International Affairs, and the Coordinator for Government Information to gain valuable experience in managing the Library’s Federal Depository Collection, as well as print and electronic resources in support of curricula at the College of Social Sciences. Summarized activities include:

 

Website Responsibilities

  1. In collaboration with the Library’s Marketing Department, undertake complete redesign and reorganization of the FSU Libraries’ Government Information website for community outreach and advanced research support. This includes updating the website’s feel and look for each of the FSU Libraries’ depository areas for United States Federal, United Nations, and State of Florida publications.

 

  1. Increase accessibility of the website using the FSU Libraries’ Web Style Guide.

 

  1. The responsible intern will take the lead in uploading new content to the website.

 

  1. Help create subject research guides for specializations in political science, public administration and policy, and international affairs.

 

Necessary Skills & Interest

  1. Web design skills
  2. Interest in learning about Libguides
  3. The intern will have the opportunity to gain relevant experience in other areas of academic librarianship of interest to them.
