CCYS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the healthy development of youth and families. Capital City Youth Services provides assistance to youth and their families through varying
services and programs. Programs include a short term crisis shelter, a transitional living facility, youth and family counseling, and a street outreach program. All services are free and confidential.

Job Description:
The Outreach and Development Department oversees all of CCYS’ Communication strategies, fundraising efforts and outreach initiatives. The communication intern position is ideal for a student who would like experience working in a nonprofit environment and has worked in a communications capacity previously.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain CCYS social media presence, including scheduling social media posts
  • Assist in planning, writing and managing eNewsletter
  • Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
  • Assisting with fundraising and development efforts
  • Providing administrative support to Director of Development
  • Manage and update CCYS’ website
  • Assist with community outreach efforts, including National Safe Place initiatives

Qualifications

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior working toward degree in related field
  • Experience managing social media accounts
  • Experience with WordPress preferred
  • Effective communicator, both written and oral
  • Graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of event planning
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • A commitment to the mission of CCYS
