Strategic Communication Internship – Building Future Leaders

Building Future Leaders (BFL) is ecstatic to offer a 6-week summer internship position with our company to a deserving FSU CCI student seeking to build and exhibit deep skills in website development, social media strategy, and entrepreneurial online business development. While this will be a virtual work environment, BFL still maintains high expectations of the prospective student while in this unique learning environment and has every confidence that the student will benefit from the experience to be gained in this role.  The purpose of this package is to explain the expectations of the internship program, things that the student will need to do during the summer and the basis for evaluating the internship.

 

The guiding principles for the internship with us are outlined as follows:

Strategic Communication Internship

  1. Purpose:
  1. Lead revision of Building Future Leaders’ website (www.buildingfutureleaders.org)
  2. Lead development of Building Future Leaders’ social media/web presence strategy
  3. Lead revision of Building Future Leaders’ social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
  4. Implementation/management of specific tasks related to social media (i.e. posting/sending messages on behalf of BFL)
  5. Development of online campaign to promote Building Future Leaders
  1. Duration: Monday, May 13, 2019 through Friday, June 21, 2019 (6 calendar weeks)
  2. Location: Virtual, with bi-weekly online meetings
  3. Part-time basis: approximately 10 hours per week
  4. Rate: None
  5. Health Benefits: None

 

Intern Responsibilities:

 

  1. Complete any school-related documentation that is required for internship credit.

 

  1. Identify the three most important goals that you have set for improving your skills through this internship.

 

 

  1. Keep a weekly journal/log of your activities on the job and e-mail weekly installment to the internship coordinator: Ahli Moore (amoore@buildingfutureleaders.org)

PLEASE name each week’s journal like this:

Lastname_wk1_journal.doc

 

The daily journal should consist of (a) :

 

1) Your Name

Place of Employment

Supervisor’s Name

Dates covered by journal installment

2)a header for each day such as:  May 6, 2019

3) a brief paragraph listing and describing your activities for the day/week and plans for the next week

4) a second brief, reflective paragraph examining what you learned from the experiences and general observations of how this can be applied to your future career.

 

 

  1. Complete the Self-Evaluation (included in your internship packet) and return upon completion of the internship

 

 

  1. (Optional/For Academic Credit) Complete two comprehensive reports (detailed information on what to include in the midterm and final reports will be distributed, if applicable).  The midterm report highlighting the requested information from the first 3 weeks of the internship should be completed and emailed to the school’s internship coordinator.  The final report and will be due one week after you finish your internship.  Late reports will be penalized.
