Responsibilities

Responsible for the development of news, publications, and all communication efforts for the Learning Systems Institute. Assists in the management, administrative direction, and coordination of staff and activities in the area of media, communications, and/or marketing. Supports projects in building and executing marketing and communications plans for contracts and grants activities.

Responsible for the development of news articles and stories, annual reports, website(s), social media, and publications for the institute.

Responsible for assisting in the management, administrative direction, and coordination of staff and activities of an operational unit or program within a media, communications, and/or marketing area.

Participate in contracts and grants proposal development by providing copy editing, design, and other related aspects.

Support projects to build and execute marketing and communication plans for contract and grant activities.

Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in media, communications, or marketing services and programs, which may include broadcast production, news and public affairs, marketing, and/or publications.

Assists in developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University in order to attain departmental goals and objectives. Participates in strategic planning, staffing decisions, and other key areas. May serve as a member of the department’s senior management team, as determined by the director.

Assumes delegated authority/responsibility to recommend and implement policies within area of responsibility.

Conducts research as appropriate for projects or initiatives within the assigned section.

May be assigned budgetary responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years experience related to marketing, media, and communications services; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience in same areas.

(Note:or a combination of post high school education and related experience equal to eight years in same as above.)

  • Minimum of one year experience in recruiting and supervising other personnel
  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational skills
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.

Preferred

Experience in doing these functions for institutions of higher education or research and development organizations.

HTML and CSS skills.

Graphic design,experience with user design, and/or video production.
