Position Description:

The Digital Communications Specialist supports the Marketing & Communications team to meet the overall digital communication needs of Woodward, with primary responsibility for updating content of all external websites, portals, and social media platforms, in addition to managing the Academy’s email system. This position will be responsible for recommending enhancements, automation tools, and general website best practices to maintain a high performing user experience, while providing timely support and responses to internal stakeholders. The Digital Communications Specialist will report to the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications.

  • Provide day-to-day support and maintenance of the Academy’s website (Finalsite CMS) and parent portal (Veracross) and provide support and training to internal web editors.
  • Work directly with Finalsite to troubleshoot and resolve website-related issues and serve as project manager for special web projects, such as upcoming homepage and navigation redesign.
  • Collaborate with the MarCom team to ensure that the website aligns with the overall digital engagement strategy.
  • Take proactive steps to recommend updates and correct aspects of site content, design, and functionality to improve overall performance and user experience, both on desktop and mobile.
  • Create effective landing pages, informed by best practices, for specific campaigns and events.
  • Develop an annual communications plan for social media, in conjunction with the Marketing Strategist, that aligns with the Academy’s overall communications strategy.
  • Write content and design social media posts and graphics, engage with audiences in a timely manner, and use sound judgment in posting and responding to reflect school culture and values.
  • Coordinate Academy-wide email distribution, including design and list management, through MailChimp and Veracross.
  • Maintain photo archives and storage system for MarCom and edit and update photos on the Woodward website as needed.
  • Cover campus events to share on social media.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications.
