Rod Library seeks an innovative, dynamic, service-oriented individual to serve as Fine and Performing Arts Librarian and as liaison to the School of Music and departments of Art, Theatre, and the Textiles and Apparel major in the School of Applied Human Sciences to begin August 2013.
The Fine and Performing Arts Librarian will provide planning and direction for fine and performing arts collections and services at Rod Library. The position will oversee the development of collections in all formats, collaborate with faculty to design curriculum-based library instruction in person and online, provide in person and virtual reference assistance and provide visionary leadership for the creation of new library collections and services in partnership with campus faculty.
Some of the collections supporting these disciplines are currently housed in a separate section of the library, supported by a Library Assistant and student assistants. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with liaison departments, library staff and information technology experts to assess current and future information needs and to develop a vision for the ongoing support of fine and performing arts departments, taking into account current trends in the disciplines, in librarianship, in content creation and distribution, and collection access through digital and multimedia technologies.
This is a tenure-track position. Participation on library committees and in professional associations is expected, as is ongoing research, scholarship, and/or creative work. Visit
