Under limited supervision, the Director of Technical Services at Broward College Library provides leadership and direction for all aspects of technical services including acquisitions, cataloging, serials, database and electronic resource management, metadata creation for the library’s digital collections, and library materials resource budget management. Responsible for providing library resources to library patrons, faculty, staff and administrators in support of an intellectual climate for academic growth.
Minimum Education:
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library or Information Science required.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Minimum four years of successful and increasingly responsible professional level experience working in technical services.
- Minimum three years of management/supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- In depth knowledge of cataloging and metadata schemas and standards, such as RDA, AACR2, LCSH, MARC, OCLC, EAD, MODS, and Dublin Core.
- Knowledge of current practice, trends, and standards in all operations of technical services.
- Knowledge of automated library management systems.
- Models inclusive excellence through specific actions that support the College’s diversity goals in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of talented and diverse faculty and staff.
- Ability to manage materials budgets and allocations.
- Extensive functional knowledge and expertise in all aspects of own and related areas of the College, and pertinent interdependencies.
Location: Central Campus (Davie, FL)
Salary: $64,865 – $74,595
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
