Minimum Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in library science, or other related program, from a program accredited by the American Library Association.

· At least one year of professional cataloging experience.

Preferences:

· More than one year of original cataloging experience.

· Knowledge of rules and procedures for bibliographic control.

· Knowledge of rules and principles for organizing, cataloging, maintaining, and providing access to library materials.

· Experience working with state and or federal documents.

· Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office products and automated library systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a librarian position within the Division of Library & Information Services/Bureau of Library & Network Services/State Library to organize, catalog, and process library materials so patrons have access to the State Library collections.

· Performs complex original and copy cataloging of library materials in all formats for the library’s collections using automated library systems.

· Downloads, catalogs, and maintains electronic versions of state documents in library catalog.

· Performs maintenance of bibliographic, serial, and authority records in library catalog for new and retrospective materials.

· Processes materials and does serial check-ins for library collections.

· Communicates with supervisor and staff through meetings, emails, and reports documenting work activities and attends training to update professional knowledge and skills.

· Performs other work related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to perform extended data entry.

Ability to lift and process boxes of books that may weigh up to 20 pounds.

Ability to bend and reach to shelved materials.

Ability to climb and descend stairs.

Ability to push loaded book trucks;
