This position is located between Mariner Middle School and Mariner High School. The Northwest Regional Library is located in the active community of northwest Cape Coral. Cape Coral offers easy access to historic downtown Fort Myers and Punta Gorda as well as quaint fishing villages on Pine Island. The city of Cape Coral provides myriad attractions for families including newly created parks, playgrounds, and nature centers. The city boasts a vibrant nightlife with a community atmosphere. Nestled between two schools and adorned with native foliage, the Northwest Regional Library serves one of the fastest-growing areas of Lee County. Duties and Responsibilities
Provide stellar customer service by assisting patrons of all ages using Library resources and services, including computers, electronic resources, reference, and readers’ advisory.
Maintain a regular schedule of collection maintenance and promotion of the children’s and teen’s collections through weeding, selection, and displays.
Demonstrate proficiency in readers’ advisory to children and teens.
May be assigned to participate in branch-specific and system-wide committees.
Present tours and programs for school and community groups visiting the library.
Provide technology training to staff and patrons.
May be in charge of the library for specific days or shifts.
Explain and administer library policies and procedures.
Actively seek and participate in professional development opportunities and stay abreast of emerging technology and trends.
Communicate and work collaboratively with co-workers, sharing information and working cohesively as a team.
Initiate, plan, and conduct a variety of programs and activities to encourage positive use of the library by teens, including but not limited to maker-based programming, crafts, gaming, Teen Advisory Group, special events, and school and community outreach.
Plan and present programs and activities for children and teens at the library and at outreach locations.
Plan and present youth literacy programs such as Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Tales, Family Story Time, and Preschool Story Time.
Develop and maintain communication and contacts with nearby schools and community organizations that serve children and teens.
Routinely facilitate afterschool activities and engagement in the teen zone.
Offers support to the Adult Reference Department and other service desks as needed.
