Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Position Summary: This position is in the commission on the Status of Women. This position will serve as the social media and website specialist for the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, a nonpartisan statewide board focused on studying and raising awareness of the issues impacting Florida’s women and families and celebrating the achievements of women and girls. This position requires a strong storyteller who will be responsible for developing and executing social media strategy and managing the organization’s websites.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in journalism, public relations, or communications marketing.

A minimum of one year of social media management experience required

The Work You Will Do: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops and executives social media strategy and produces original content
  • Plans, create and implements editorial content calendars across various social networking platforms to reach and grow diverse audiences
  • Uses photography, videography, storytelling, and streaming skills to create content in support of the FCSW’s research, events, and initiatives
  • Informs and educates through social media posts on primary platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn) that encourages conversation and engagement
  • Monitors social media sites and coordinates responses to comments in a manner that provides positive responses and reflects well on FCSW
  • Provides data-driven insights on our social media presence and adjusts strategy to enhance the effectiveness
  • Creates social media guidelines, tools, policies, and best practices for Commissioners
  • Advises on content strategy and encourages cross-promotion and collaborates to maximize the sharing of content
  • Ensure adherence to brand and brand standards in all print and visual mediums
  • Coordinates the production of photographs, graphics, and slides for presentations and social media
  • Maintains fcsw.net websites with up-to-date information
  • Assists in the development, production, and distribution of promotional and collateral materials
  • Assists with event planning, outreach, and coordination of on-site arrangements for meetings and events
  • Assists in the preparation of meeting and event materials
  • Performs related work as assigned
  • Due to the critical responsibilities of this position, the employee may be required to respond outside of normally scheduled hours to address operational needs
  • Many of the duties for the position will take place indoors in an office environment; however, the position will be required to travel to various sites around the state.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms, social media content development, management, and analytics tools
  • Extensive knowledge of AP writing style guide as well as the rules of grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and copy editing
  • Some knowledge of design, photo, and video editing software
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Skilled in copywriting and editing, communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Must have strong customer service, public relations, and presentation skills
  • Skill in the use of WordPress, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to research topics and write articles or prepare information for dissemination
  • Ability to develop and implement an annual communications calendar to ensure timely execution of the program
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
