The purpose of this position is to assist in managing marketing communications programs including public relations, promotions, and social media components, promoting and selling Tallahassee as a tourist destination.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Assist in developing, implementing and managing public relations efforts. Communicate county tourism-related news and achievements to local and regional travel trade and/or travel industry-related publications; writes and disseminates news releases to media and arranges interviews for the division’s senior management; develops and maintains target media lists including local print and broadcast media, travel writers and editors from key newspapers, regional and national magazines, travel  and travel industry-related publications, freelance travel writers and travel bloggers; assists with coordination and implementation of media visits; assists with writing and editing materials; assists in writing and editing content for VisitTallahassee.com, CapitalCityAmphitheater.com and Trailahassee.com; assists in ensuring that website content is updated and accurate; assists with management of social media platforms; stays abreast of current events and tourism-related developments; works with the agency in reviewing and editing social content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest; monitors social content; assist in developing statewide, regional and national promotions; researches various promotional opportunities with the agency and outside organizations; coordinates components of promotional packages with local industry; and assists in the management and implementation of promotions.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, and a minimum of  two years of  related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must possess a valid Driver’s License and a favorable driving record.  May be required to submit writing samples upon request.
