Qualified librarians are invited to apply for the Research & Instruction Librarian and Assistant Professor position at the University of Mississippi Libraries in Oxford, MS. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty position reporting to the Head of Research & Instruction Services. The successful candidate will:
- Serve as a liaison to the School of Journalism and the departments of Economics, Public Policy Leadership, and Political Science. Liaisons work with faculty and students to effectively use library resources and services to support their research, instruction, outreach, and collection needs;
- Collaborate with library personnel to support the teaching initiatives of both the library and the university by leading and assessing information literacy classes, workshops, and orientation activities for first-year students;
- Provide in-person and on-line reference and research consultation services and create LibGuides, tutorials, and exhibits as needed on the Oxford campus and regional campuses;
- Contribute to librarianship, research, and service at a level appropriate for a tenure-track faculty member of the university.
Salary: $48,000/year and includes the university’s competitive benefits package
- Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program
- Familiarity with current and emerging trends in librarianship, specifically information literacy instruction and collection resources designed to support assigned liaison areas
