Florida State University’s College of Communication and Information, in partnership with the Florida IT Career Alliance, will host more than 45 local mentors for the second annual Women in Leadership Conference — a free event for female students that aims to teach young women about challenges facing female leaders and techniques to overcome those hurdles.
Women from multiple industries including media, advertising, technology, social work, law enforcement and business will participate as panelists or breakout leaders at the second annual event.
Eight women leaders will begin the conference with a panel discussion about the fundamentals of professional success. Noted panelists include Sally McRorie, interim provost and executive vice president of academic affairs at Florida State, and Sophia Danvers, a former FSU track star and a global integrated marketing communications manager at Cisco Systems.
Following the discussion, students will have the opportunity to network and speak one-on-one with local businesswomen.
