iSchool Professor Elected to the IAHSI 2025 Class of Academy Fellows

iSchool Professor Zhe He was elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences and Informatics (IAHSI) on July 25, 2025. The IAHSI Academy Fellows are recognized as global leaders in health sciences and informatics who contribute to the future of these fields through research, academia, and the dissemination of knowledge and best practices.

“Being elected as a Fellow of the IAHSI is an incredible honor and a deeply humbling experience. It represents international recognition of the work I’ve done over the past 17 years to advance biomedical and health informatics,” Dr. He said.

This year, IASHI elected 18 Fellows in total, with 11 being from North America. As Director of the FSU Institute for Successful Longevity, Director of the UF-FSU CTSA Biostatistics, Informatics, and Research Design Program, and Chair of AMIA Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Working Group, Dr. He is incredibly involved in his field.

Dr. He first became involved with the IAHSI community through his long-standing engagement with the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), which founded the IAHSI in 2017. Over the years, Dr. He has presented research, organized panels, and collaborated with scholars internationally through IMIA conferences, introducing him to IAHSI and their mission.

“I was both surprised and honored to be nominated and elected by such a distinguished group of peers whose work I have long admired,” Dr. He shared.

Now, as an IASHI fellow, Dr. He hopes to support the IAHSI’s goal of advancing health sciences informatics by strengthening global collaboration on pressing issues like climate change, aging, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in health care. He also looks forward to working with international colleagues on leadership practices, sharing knowledge, and building the capacity of low-resource settings and communities.

“I hope to serve as a bridge between the global informatics community and our students and researchers at FSU, creating new opportunities for engagement, mentorship, and innovation,” Dr. He said.
