Communication Internship – Florida State Parks

US eDirect is searching for a creative, focused and results oriented individual to support our work with the Florida State Parks. We deliver all of the reservation system management for the Florida State Parks system and are ideally looking for a candidate who is familiar with the parks, camping and the outdoors.

We are looking for a candidate at Florida State University because the headquarters is located in Tallahassee and we’d like to have our candidate meet regularly (monthly at a minimum) with the officials in Florida and be able to travel (reimbursable) at times throughout the year to interact with parks managers and create content around and about the parks.

Hours would include: 10 to 15 per week at $16 per hour with bonuses available for exceptional performance. 

Duties will include, but many not be limited to:

  • Be the primarily point of contact with the Florida State Parks for US eDirect, helping both organizations promote the parks system with the shared goal of driving additional revenue
  • Become familiar with and over time expert at our internal communications (email and SMS) system known as Notification Dynamics
  • Become familiar with and over time expert at a third-party marketing tool we are exploring like Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Write first draft of all email marketing for visitors to Florida State Parks
  • Write first draft of long form copy (1,000 – 2,000 words) about individual Florida State Parks and their nearby attractions
  • Be familiar with all popular forms of social media marketing (paid and organic) and be trusted to message on behalf of US eDirect and the State of Florida
  • Able to shoot basic images (bonus points for video) that can be used in online campaigns
  • Make creative suggestions to improve messaging aimed at younger campers or visitors with families
  • Make creative suggestion for improved messaging DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)
  • Be a strong listener, who takes good notes and can synthesize information into key bullets for senior leaders
  • Be adventurous and ready to explore the hidden and unknown
  • Demonstrate a passion for marketing and communications excellent and willingness to grow, learn and develop
  • Love every last inch of the state of Florida and have that genuine passion illuminate your writing, photography, attention to detail and interpersonal relationships!

This posting will last from September 1 through May 31. We are looking for an exceptional, enthusiastic upper classmen or grad student who wants to bolster their resume with credentials from a global software company that serves agencies like Florida State Parks stretching from Canada to Key West and all the way down to New Zealand.

This is NOT a job for someone who needs to be told what to do. I want to lay out a playbook and have the partner OWN it.
