ADULT SERVICES/REFERENCE LIBRARIAN –DIVISION HEAD

Full Time

SALARY: $36,254 – $58,219/yr. PAY GRADE: 122

Performs professional and supervisory work, under the general direction of the Library Director. Work involves planning, assigning, supervising, training, and reviewing department staff and coordinating with other library departments and personnel.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, reference assistance, departmental scheduling, collection development and adult programming.

Assists in the following activities: preparation of department service plans, library marketing, trouble-shooting computer issues, working with software applications, online databases, and computer instruction.

Plans and implements programs to enhance the awareness and use of the library and for the enrichment of the community.

Performs other duties as required. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures. Evening and/or weekend hours required.

Education/Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution

Knowledge of the ALA guidelines, current library practices and procedures

3-5 years supervisory experience required; team building/consensus capability essential; must be able to motivate staff and work well with community members, excellent communication skills
