On September 30th, 2021, the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication (CHMC) at Florida State University hosted its annual Gala. This year’s Gala was virtual, bringing together over 100 students, alumni, and community members in a celebration of “Hispanidad”.
“The Gala provided opportunities to celebrate and embrace the work made by members of the Hispanic community,” said Dr. Sindy Chapa, Director of the CHMC, “and the work by those who support the Hispanic community
– all during the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration – as well as provided an opportunity to fundraise for the creation of the endowment.”
Participants at the Gala had the opportunity to donate toward the Felipe and Betty Ann Korzenny Endowment for Hispanic Marketing, which supports the CHMC’s programs, activities, scholarships, and student recruitment. By the end of the event, the CHMC had reached its goal of $100,000 raised. These funds will help support the continued professional development of the Hispanic marketing communication students at the CHMC.
This event also presented a huge opportunity for students to network with industry professionals. Dr. Chapa stressed the importance of inviting industry professionals to the Gala “because they need to learn about our programs in order to open job opportunities for our Hispanic and Multicultural students. This event gave us an
opportunity to connect with professionals in the industry and create awareness about our programs and students.”
Dr. Chapa hopes to continue to connect students with future opportunities through future Galas, as well as through their groundbreaking work at the CHMC.For more information about the Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication and how you can support it, visit the CHMC website.
