On October 13, the College of Communication & Information (CCI) Leadership Board had its annual fall meeting at the Florida State University Alumni Center. The Board meets on campus bi-annually to receive updates on the Dean’s and College’s priorities, development updates, and discuss how the Board can align with and support those priorities to discuss and prepare upcoming plans for the College. Board officers also have a monthly executive committee virtual meeting that all board members are welcome to participate in.
The fall meeting focused on hearing Dean Kazmer’s insights and priorities for the College, as well as defining roles and responsibilities of the Board committees. The Board also announced new officers, received a development update and discussed fundraising.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the Board and its leadership team to ensure that the College of Communication and Information has the resources and visibility it needs to help Florida State University meet its strategic goals, and to help our students continue to excel during their time at Florida State University and into their careers,” shared CCI Dean Dr. Michelle Kazmer.
“The depth and scope of the Board’s industry expertise, talent, and experience is inspiring,” said CCI Leadership Board Chair Jeanne Ford. “I’m excited to see their innovation, creativity and results-driven dedication in action to support the Dean’s priorities and continue pushing the College of Communication and Information to new heights and accomplishments.
The Board welcomed two new members: Peter Burke and Arlene Borenstein.
Burke is a Digital Executive Producer at WPTV Newschannel 5 in Delray Beach, FL, and Borenstein is a Media Relations and Public Relations Program Manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Both Burke and Borenstein hope to help the Board by increasing communication and outreach through social media channels.
Faculty members interested in having a Board member speak during one of their classes or during a zoom session outside of a scheduled class or students interested in hearing from CCI Leadership Board members or other CCI alumni should check out the The Speakers Bureau to connect, network, and invite industry professionals to speak with your student organization.
